Quick thank you 2024

Year 2024 was one of a kind.

I got to travel, maybe even more than ever before - I explored the beautiful sceneries of New Zealand, ate the best food ever in Japan and dreamt of going back to South Korea after spending only one night in Seoul on the way to New Zealand. But even more, together with my husband, we did the biggest trip of our lives when we packed our bags and moved to a completely different country. Our 6 year dream of moving to Canada finally came true and I’m over the moon to get to call North Vancouver my home for the years to come. “Still” after 4 months I get sudden flashes of happiness, that hit so deep into my bones that I can not help, but smile.

By the way, don’y you worry - travel stories from New Zealand, Japan and Seoul are on their way and I hope to get them published here during the year 2025!

Yes I really needed to add to pictures of me and my arms up, because it’s New Year woop!

Most of all, year 2024 was all about people. So many hellos, nice to see you agains and goodbyes. Some of the goodbyes were for good, some more of “see you later” type of goodbyes. Lot of back-then strangers are now familiar faces in my life. These new relationships reminded me once again, that kindness and the willingness to show up are universal languages. Building new connections requires efforts and might feel uncomfortable from time to time. At least my “I’m okay being by myself”- Finnish core makes me sometimes struggle to push myself out there and saying yes to all social events. But in the end all of the efforts are so worth it.

And that’s the thing I’m the happiest of when looking back of the year 2024. Of all the people in my life.

This was a short post for once, but I really have to get ready for the dinner. Probably going to write more reflective post later on, but now my mind is just filled with happy thoughts of “First New Year in Canada, like what is going on?!”. No more what-if’s or when-it-happens, just enjoying the moment as it is.

Anyhow, just wanted to wish everyone Happy New Year and I really hope that this year treats you well.

x Krista

Ps. I’m also super excited to get this blogging thing really going! It’s been too long time since I last had a blog (like 3 years ago??). Really missed this.
